La Chamaerops humilis is commonly called dwarf palm and it is the only specie of the Chamaerops (Arecales family).
It is typical of the Mediterranean scrub. Its name refers to its morphology (from the Greek chamai=short and rhaps=shrub). The Greeks called it Phoenix chamaeriphes, which means literally “thrown palm”. It looks like an evergreen shrub and it reaches normally 2 meters in height and even more. [Wikipedia]
